History of Swamiji
श्रीरामचंद्र वैदेही ससौमित्री हनूमताम् ।
लब्धारमनिश वन्दे रामचंद्र यतीश्वरम् ।।
- Sixth Acharya Ramachandra Teerth was a disciple of Shreemad Anujeevottama Teerth.
- He received sanyasa deeksha in Gokarna in Srisaka 1549, Prabhava Samvatsara Kartika Shukla Navami.
- After his Guru attained Haripada, Shree Ramachandra Teerth became Guruteethadhipati and managed the Samsthana for 27 years.
- Shree Swamiji founded a Math in Partagali, Goa, which was a significant event in the history of GSBs.
- Behind the Math at Gokarna, Swamiji discovered four Shilamurthis of Sri Ram, Sri Lakshman, Sri Seetadevi, and Hanuman in a cave.
- Swamiji was instructed in a dream to carry the Pratimas north and consecrate them where they would become very heavy.
- Swamiji and his entourage carried the Shilamurthis north, crossing the Kali River and reaching Paingin, where the Pratimas became heavy.
- Swamiji was again instructed in a dream to follow a holy cow to find a suitable place for consecration.
- The holy cow led Swamiji to a place near the Kushavati River, where the Pratimas of Shree Ram, Shree Lakshman, and Shree Seetadevi became heavy and were consecrated.
- The cow then led Swamiji to Rivona, where the Pratima of Maruti became heavy and was consecrated.
- Two Maths were built, and the Pratimas were consecrated.
- When the Partagali Math was founded, Canacon was controlled by the Kings of the Soundekar dynasty.
- Sonda Kings ruled from Ponda in Goa to Mangalore and were initially under Vijaynagar and then Bijapurkars.
- Partagali Math was founded in A.D. 1656.
- During the Rathotsava in Partagali, a small tax called “samankar” was collected from some villages of Cancon, and residents gladly contributed.
- Swamiji resided mostly at Gokarn but attended the Ramanavami festival in Partagali and stayed for a long time in the Rivona Math.
- Shreemad Ramachandra Teerth Swamiji attained Haripada in the Rishivan branch Matha (now called Rivona) on Srisaka 1581 Vaishaka Krishna Tritiya.
