History of Math
- The Saraswath community began settling in Dandeli, known as the Industrial Town of Uttara Kannada District.
- As the number of Saraswath families increased, they invited Shri Swamiji to guide and bless the community.
- Shreemad Dwarakanath Teerth Swamiji, the 22nd Swamiji of the Math tradition, visited Dandeli in 1958.
- Swamiji encouraged the community to preserve its culture and heritage and to unite for the overall growth and welfare of the Samaj.
- With the expansion of Dandeli town and the Samaj, it became necessary to establish a Temple and Samaj Mandir for religious, social, and cultural activities.
- Swamiji formed a local committee and granted permission to construct a Deva Mandira, Agrashala, and Sabhamantapa.
- The committee acquired 2.25 acres of land in the heart of Dandeli and commenced construction.
- Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji, the 23rd Swamiji of the lineage, supported the completion of the Math premises.
- In the first phase, the committee completed:
- A Deva Mandira
- A Mantapa in front of the temple
- A Guru Bhavana for Swamiji’s stay
- A grand Mahadwara facing the main road
- On Shake 1914, Prajapati Samvatsara, Phalguna Bahula Ashtami (26/03/1992), the Krishnashila Vigraha of Shri Venkataramana and the Shikhara Kalasha Pratishtha were performed.
- As the community grew, a new Vastu was constructed under Swamiji’s guidance, featuring:
- A spacious Sabhagraha
- Pakashala
- Bhojanashala
- A borewell
- Required furniture and fixtures
- The new hall, named “Shri Vidyadhiraj Sabhabhavana,” was inaugurated on Shake 1925, Subhanu Samvatsara, Ashadha Bahula Pratipada, Monday (14/07/2003).
- The committee has been inviting Swamiji every year for the Pratishtha Vardhanti Utsava, and the Samaj has flourished spiritually and socially with Swamiji’s blessings and guidance
