History of Math

  • Shreemad Lakshminarayana Teerth Swamiji successfully renovated the Varanasi Math and was returning to Partagali to celebrate the Ramanavami festival.
  • Many disciples eagerly prepared to attend the celebrations after not seeing their Guru for eight years.
  • On his journey back, Shreemad Lakshminarayana Teerth Swamiji attained Samadhi on the banks of the Godavari River at Nasik.
  • This tragic event occurred on Shake 1624, Dundubhi Samvatsara, Phalguna Vadya Saptami.
  • Shreemad Lakshmikantha Teerth, his disciple, was devastated upon receiving the news.
  • Despite the sorrow, Shreemad Lakshmikantha Teerth instructed the disciples to construct a Vrindavana for his Guru at Nasik.
  • Shreemad Lakshmikantha Teerth himself attained Samadhi at Honnavar seven years later.
  • Contact with the Vrindavana at Nasik was lost over the decades.
  • The 22nd Peethadhipati, Shreemad Dwarakanath Teerth Swamiji, attempted to locate the Samadhi but the matter remained unresolved.
  • Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji continued the search for his Guru’s Vrindavana and aimed to fulfill the Guru’s wish to build a temple in his memory.
  • Swamiji observed Chaturmasa of Shake 1922 at Nasik, 300 years after the Samadhi of Shreemad Lakshminarayana Teerth.
  • Swamiji found records of a landholding in Nasik registered under the name of Gokarn Math.
  • The land had been used for bridge construction, and the then Peethadhipati had refused monetary compensation, insisting on alternative land.
  • Swamiji acquired a new site near the National Highway at Chetan Nagar, Nasik.
  • The foundation stone for the Nasik Shakha Math was laid on 15.09.2000.
  • Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji inaugurated the “Shri Lakshminarayana Bhavana” on 04.04.2002.
  • A Vrindavana was built in memory of Shreemad Lakshminarayana Teerth Swamiji.
  • A beautiful Chandrakanta Shila Vigraha of Shri Lakshminarayan Deva was installed.
  • This journey stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Guru-Shishya tradition and the blessings of the Parampara.
